Originally designed to be a substitute for the tissue blade our .008 does more than just cut! It is made of high grade stainless steel shim stock and will never rust. I use the 90° tab to make square or rectangular cuts. Its point is fine enough to pick up small bits of clay or score rolled out clay. Use it as a spatula to move clay to and from your hot plate. Combine this tool with a styrene worksheet, a styrene roller, a paint brush, some cuticle sticks and a hot plate and you have a great beginners kit. |
The Aura 22 brush is not really a brush in the classic sense. The tip is made of silicone and because they do not absorb paint like a brush, you can simply wipe them clean! Dried Aura 22 will simply flake off and can be reconstituted, no waste. Especially useful with the price of gold these days!! |
I like to work PMC dry and have been using mug warmers for years in my studio and at my workshops. They are quiet, safe and inexpensive. Place a small Pyrex dish on the hot plate and you have the perfect temperature to keep soft waxes melted. Plus, there is no open flame to possibly ignite the wax. It can also be used to warm a solution of liver of sulphur. (Note: always use proper ventilation when heating any chemical!!) |
Use the needle tool for poking, texturing and scoring clay. The side of the steel makes a great burnisher! I use the handle as a mini-roller and as round form to drape clay over. The point is good to pick metal or dried clay from file teeth. |
A very, very fine volcanic ash, talc, water starch, wood pulp and a preservative are the makings of this humble but versatile clay. This material does not burn out and can be used as a core for beads and rings. When totally dried out, it can be sanded and shaped to meet your needs. |
